Marketplace Competitive Analysis Template
One of the very first steps when launching a marketplace is to identify your competitors in the space. Conduct a competitive analysis to understand the current landscape, and inform your marketplace’s strategic direction.
Doing a competitive analysis helps you develop a plan for success, including:
- Where you can win
- Unique selling proposition (you can’t know what’s unique if you don’t know what’s out there)
- How to talk to users about why they should choose your product
- Effective pricing
In your competitive analysis, it’s critical to identify both direct and indirect competitors, as well as both marketplace and non-marketplace competitors. For each competitor, be honest about their strengths and weaknesses.
